My head is spinning as I think about the events of this week. This year’s American presidential election has provided such an astonishing drama beyond anyone’s wildest imagination. No matter which candidate people have voted for, I am pretty sure most Americans are a bit apprehensive and have some serious concerns. Myself, included.
But when I stopped to think about what I am thankful for this week, I have to say I am thankful for my country. I am thankful for America. I am thankful that I have the opportunity to vote for our country’s leaders especially the president. I am thankful for the freedom that our country’s founders established on July 4th, 1776 and that has been protected by the sacrifices of countless lives through the generations until now.
I am reminded of a song from the Broadway musical Hamilton. The song, “The Greatest City in the World” speaks of New York City which in the play represents all America.
“Look around, look around, how lucky we are to be alive right now. History is happening…”
How lucky I am to be alive right now. How lucky I am to be an American.
What are you thankful for?

It really is astonishing as to how this week’s events unfolded, but you are certainly wise to be thankful for what we have today. Things could be worse… We all just need to keep working together, or at least try working together, to move forward in this day and age 🙂

It’s hard to have hope for this country but being thankful is helping me stay positive. Working together is what Americans need to do.

Thank you Jean! Every Thursday, I post a thankful post. Being thankful helps me to stay positive. There have been times that when Thursday comes around, I have to really search deep inside in order to post something real and authentic – not just something rote and rehearsed.
This Thursday, I was forced to really look for the positive – to rise above the chaos and disunity, the heated arguments, and the over-emotional rants. It was a challenge!
So thank you for visiting my blog and for your comment. It is very much appreciated!
