I have found that in every season, there are blessings – reasons to be thankful and full of gratitude. This winter has been no different. Even though we have been hit with a bit of sickness, we have helped each other get through it. Now most of us are on the mend.
In particular, I am so thankful for receiving the “gold star award” from Cee’s Photography and seeing my image featured on her blog post. It was such a surprise. I am so honored to be recognized. Click here to see her post. Click here to see my submission for her challenge.
I am also thankful for the very mild winter here in New Jersey. Besides the “blizzard” in January that dropped about 30 inches of snow across the state, we have had only one other small snow storm.
As much as I am enjoying the 40/50F degree weather during winter, I do love the beauty of snow. That’s why in hindsight, I am so glad I ventured out to the Morristown National Historical Park in Morristown, NJ before the mild temperatures and rains washed the snow away.
This park commemorates where General George Washington and the Continental Army spent two harsh winters during the American Revolutionary War. There, you will find recreations of some of the soldiers’ huts used back in 1779/1880.
The snow in the following images makes it look like I took these pictures on a cold winter’s day. That day in February was a mild and sunny 50F degree day. The average temperatures are usually in the 30’s.

Thank you so much Julie! Yes, it was quite poignant – standing at the huts with snow all around me – thinking about the soldiers and how harsh and cold it must have been.

Gorgeous snowy photos! I would live to visit a place with that much history. Everything is so new out here in the west.
