Helleborus plants in my garden don’t usually bloom in early January but New Jersey experienced temperatures much warmer than usual during December and into January. I managed to capture an image of this flowering Helleborus (common name: Lenten Rose) before the temperatures dropped to what is normal this time of year. Hopefully this Helleborus will bloom again when it normally does – in early spring.
I will be participating in a monthly photo challenge: Garden Photo Challenge hosted by the blog called, the earth laughs in flowers.

Lovely to see your Lenten Rose! I have a white one that usually flowers at the end of January, buds should be there now, but there isn’t a single flower bud this year! Maybe they need a cold snap to encourage flowering 😦
Thank you for joining in with the challenge, I am loving seeing what is happening in gardens all around the world 🙂

I thought these were winter bloomers, though maybe not in NJ. Looks like winter weather is on the way. We have a snow-covered driveway this evening, but it isn’t supposed to last. More coming Friday. I’m hoping to get to the grocery store tomorrow.
