I am so thankful for this day when my second son graduates from high school. The past two years have been extremely challenging for him due to knee injuries and then surgery. I am so proud of how he has handled himself by persevering and working hard to get to this day.
The above picture is of when we visited Yellowstone ten years ago. I remember how he loved climbing rocks and playing with sticks, and being able to see through the binoculars like a big boy. It’s hard to believe that he’s all grown up.
If you would like to share your version of “Thankful Thursday” (photos or text or both) today or in the future, you can link your post to my post on Thursdays in the comments section. Happy Thursday Everyone!

My daughter is scheduled to undergo knee surgery in 2 weeks. She’s never had surgery in her life, this will be the first… I’m a little nervous but reading your blog brings relief to my anxiety. thank you.

Rina – So sorry to hear that your daughter has to have surgery! How old is she? Attending physical therapy sessions after the surgery is so important to full recovery.

Yes, the therapy post operation is crucial and she’s aware. She’s a young adult, 21 years and a martial arts competitor. She tore her ACL and surgery is the only way to regain full use of her right knee. I worry as her mother how grueling therapy will be as she heals but the doctor has assured her that with dedicated therapy sessions a full recovery is very achievable. We’ve never experienced surgery of any kind… i felt a deep sense of relief having read your post. Thank you!

Mar thank you… surgery went well. We’re home now and it’s quite a challenge with recovery but it’s just been the day after and doctor said about two weeks before therapy begins so hopefully by then the pain has subsided. I remembered you, Thankful Thursday! 🙂

So glad she made it through! She will have a tough few days. Even though the meds will help her with the pain, they may make her feel nauseous and lethargic but I am sure she will be feeling better soon. Thank you for letting me know!

Rina – How do you have a 21 year old! You look so young! 🙂
Yes, therapy will be hard but she is healthy and in shape so she will do well. Just be there for her. Encourage her. Binge watch Downton Abbey with her and get her iced coffee everyday! I will pray for her quick recovery and your peace of mind. Let me know how everything goes.

Tell him Congratulations! I know how hard it can be to play catch up for graduating high school and it’s always very rewarding on a personal level (never mind all of the things learned) to be able to hold that diploma and know that you did everything you could to get it.
