I am not a morning person. When my alarm hits 6:15 am, I just want to roll over and go back to sleep. I don’t remember when I started doing this but now after I hit the alarm button, I reach out my hand and and my husband holds it. He holds it for just a couple minutes until I either get out of bed or he starts gently shaking it to wake me up. Somehow, holding his hand transforms my outlook on the day. I could wake up all wrapped up with the concerns of the day, but when he holds my hand, I know that everything is going to be ok. I remember to breathe again. I say a little prayer and and then I say to myself, what a beautiful day.

Wow . . . so perfect that I read this tonight . . . my husband is away traveling for business and I can’t seem to sleep well (we’re almost never apart) or wake up in the morning . . . this is a very lovely, lovely ritual . . .

Thank you so much M! I am still thinking about what you wrote in your post and wondering how to express those same thoughts about my husband in my own post. Thanks for stopping by!

Reblogged this on Momdeavor and commented:
My husband and I are away for three weeks to celebrate our 30th anniversary. I am reblogging one of my favorite posts about a morning ritual that my husband and I still practice to this day.
